Folnaro with Alfred

The Alfred workflow brings Folnaro to your keyboard without opening a window first. You find invoices and customers, start or switch the timer, begin an invoice and add receipts from Finder.

Install the workflow

The workflow needs Alfred with the Powerpack. Choose Folnaro > Settings… > Integrations and click Install… in the Alfred workflow row. Alfred shows you the workflow and asks before it imports it.

So that Alfred can show your books, turn on Launchers can read in the same place. Until then Alfred shows only a notice. Press Return on it and Folnaro opens exactly this setting.

The workflow comes in the language Folnaro is running in. If you switch languages, just install it again.

The keywords

KeywordWhat it does
foSearches invoices, quotes, customers, receipts and projects. Each row shows number, customer, amount and status.
fotShows the running timer. Type a project or a task to start or switch.
fonBegins a new invoice for a customer.
fogOpens a section of Folnaro, such as Invoices, Time or Expenses.

You can change the keywords: open the Folnaro workflow in Alfred and click Configure Workflow.

Searching with fo in Alfred

Type fo and part of a number, customer, project or amount. Without a search term, Alfred shows your newest documents.

  • Return opens the record in Folnaro.
  • ⌘ and Return copies the number. A draft has no number yet, it gets one when you finalize it.
  • ⌥ and Return copies the amount.
  • Shift shows the PDF or the receipt in Quick Look.

Start, switch and stop the timer

Type fot. When a timer is running, it is at the top, and Return stops it. Keep typing and Alfred finds matching projects and their tasks. Return starts the timer or switches to the chosen project. When nothing matches, your text becomes the timer’s description.

The timer starts in the background, so Folnaro stays behind your current window. You see the running time in the menu bar as usual.

Begin a new invoice

Type fon and part of the customer’s name. Return opens a draft for that customer, ⌥ and Return a quote. The first row begins a draft without a customer. Folnaro assigns the number only when you finalize the draft.

Add receipts from Finder

Select a PDF or an image in Finder, open Alfred’s file actions and choose Add as Receipt to Folnaro. The files land in the receipt inbox, just like dropping them on the Dock icon. From there you turn them into expenses when you have time.

The same rules as in the app

Alfred only reads your books, and only while Launchers can read is on under Settings… > Integrations. Alfred shows the results on your Mac. Nothing leaves your Mac through Folnaro. If you turn it off, Alfred shows no data.

This switch is separate from reading for agents. An agent sends what it reads to the company that runs it. That’s why Read under Agents stays off until you turn it on yourself.

Anything that changes something is done by Folnaro itself, with the same checks as a click in the window. Without an active subscription you can still search, open and copy. New timers and invoices then need Folnaro Pro. Alfred tells you so instead of starting anything.

Note Scripts and other launchers can use the same links the workflow uses, for example folnaro://timer/stop or folnaro://settings/integrations. Folnaro opens only links in exactly this form and ignores everything else.
Raycast The Raycast extension talks to Folnaro like an agent, through MCP. So it needs Read under Settings… > Agents, not the launcher switch.

Common problems

“Folnaro isn’t installed here”
The workflow looks for Folnaro in the Applications folder. Put Folnaro there and open it once.
“Install…” is dimmed
Alfred isn’t installed on this Mac. Get it from alfredapp.com, then come back.
Alfred shows no data
Check under Settings… > Integrations that Launchers can read is on. Before you have set up Folnaro there are no books yet, so Alfred finds nothing.
Quick Look asks for access
With the first PDF, macOS may ask whether Alfred may access Folnaro’s data. If you allow it, Quick Look shows your invoices and receipts.
