Fino, your companion

Fino is a little character in the bottom left corner of the sidebar. He sits at a tiny desk and does what you are doing: he sorts slips while you have receipts open and types along while you write. Fino is off until you bring him in.

Show Fino

There are three ways:

Choose View > Show Fino. View > Hide Fino sends him off again.
Choose Folnaro > Settings… > General and turn on Show Fino in the sidebar under Companion.
On the last page of the setup, check Let Fino work along in the bottom left corner.

The setting applies to this Mac. It is not synced with iCloud and not part of backups.

What Fino does

Fino works along in the section you have open: he sits over an invoice, sorts receipts or leafs through bank statements.
While a timer runs, he sits focused at his computer. When you type, he quietly types along.
When something is done, he is briefly happy with you: an invoice finalized, sent or paid, a statement imported, a receipt recognized, a backup done.
In the evening his lamp is on, and after midnight he sometimes has a small end of the day moment. On weekends he wears something more comfortable.

Every motion is short and ends on its own. In between, Fino sits still and costs no processing time.

Pet and hide

Click Fino to pet him. Right-click him to choose Pet Fino, Hide Fino or Fino Settings…. After hiding him, bring him back with View > Show Fino.

When Fino rests

Fino only moves in the window you are working in, and only while Folnaro is in front. He sits still when:

Folnaro is in the background, or the window is covered or in the Dock.
Low Power Mode is on, or your Mac is running very warm.
Reduce motion is on in System Settings under Accessibility. Fino then only fades gently between calm poses.

He is gone completely while the sidebar is collapsed or narrower than 200 points, while the window is less than 620 points high and during the setup. The list needs the room then.

What Fino knows about you

Fino only sees which section you have open, whether a timer runs and whether sync has a problem. When you type, he only notes the time of the last key press, never the keys themselves. He uses no internet, makes no sounds and writes nothing into your books.

Common problems

Fino is not there: Check that he is shown in the View menu. Drag the sidebar wider or the window taller until there is room for him.
Fino does not move: Click into the window once so Folnaro is in front. If he stays still, Low Power Mode or Reduce motion is on.
